Content:

This course examines the history of how of the settlement of the Native American "Indian" or Indigenous people of North America. From theories (Bering Strait, to Pangaea), through the Treaty Era, establishment of reservation, Indian New Deal, to Indian Civil Rights and Freedom of Religion. As well as the basic structure of the Fort Belknap government, and constitution. Democratic values and citizen participation will be stressed. Current issues in government will be examined.

Expectations:

  • Come to class on time, and be prepared to learn.
  • Use appropriate behavior, every person has the right to learn.
  • Complete all homework and projects on time.
  • Participate in class discussions.

  • The ability to relate the importance of knowledge about the workings of history and its impact on daily lives past and present.
